Hindrance to Supernatural Increase

Four Things that Will Stop Your Progress (hindrances to supernatural increase)

-        Get out of this survival mentality and begin to believe Him for supernatural increase.

-        Increase is available to anyone who will dare believe for it. God's doing it!

-        It is God's will for YOU to experience supernatural increase in every area of your life!

O Israel, trust and take refuge in the Lord! (Lean on, rely on, and be confident in Him)!... Psalm 115:9 (The Amplified Bible)

Ye that fear the Lord, trust in the Lord: he is their help and their shield. The Lord hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron. He will bless them that fear the Lord, both small and great. The Lord shall increase you more and more, you and your children. Ye are blessed of the Lord which made heaven and earth. Psalm 115:11-15

-        Again, this is a solemn promise of God that those who fear Him and trust Him will increase more and more. God doesn't expect you to remain the same after you have entered into covenant with Him. He expects everything around you to increase. He expects you to increase in your knowledge of God, in the peace of God, and in the grace of God.

-        God's expecting you to grow and to increase in every area of your life.

#1. A Lack of Faith.

Luke 5 the Word says that as Jesus taught, the power of the Lord was present to heal. However, the Bible does not record one person in that room receiving healing... UNTIL, a man who couldn't walk was brought to the meeting on a stretcher. Supernatural increase is in the air! BUT, YOU MUST TAP INTO IT!

#2. Holding onto the Past.

Behold, the former things are come to pass ... Isaiah 42:9

It's time to move on! Micah 7:8— When I fall, I shall arise!

Behold, the former things are come to pass, and things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them. Isaiah 42:9

Do not [earnestly] remember the former things neither consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs forth; do you not perceive and know it and will you not give heed to it... Isaiah 43:18-19 The Amplified Bible

#3. The Spirit of the World.

-        The spirit of the world will stop supernatural increase. The world is getting more worldly, but at the same time, the Holy Spirit is endeavoring to get the church more Godly. You can't be a "worldly believer" and expect supernatural increase.

-        Revelation 2:4 says, Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. If you've left your first love, then that is a sign that the spirit of the world has come into your life.

-        2 Timothy 3:4 says they become ... lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God.

-        If you don't have constant fellowship with the Holy and constant union with the Word of God, then obviously, the spirit of the world is going to come into your life.

-        Jesus said one of the things that will choke the Word in your life is the cares of this world.

-        You cannot allow the spirit of the world to come into your life. You must have a heart that is truly after God.

#4. Unwilling to Change.

-        Many times there are some adjustments that need to be made in our lives.

-        In Luke 5, we see a parable concerning leaving the old and embracing the new.

But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins And no one after drinking old wine immediately desires new wine, for he says, The old is good or better. Luke 5:38-39 The Amplified Bible

-        Notice it says, But new wine MUST ... The word "must" implies that it is imperative.

-        The apostle Paul said it this way, All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient … (I Corinthians 6:12) or profitable. He's saying, "There are some things in my life that are not necessarily sinful, but they're just no longer profitable. Anything that will hinder me from being in the flow of what God's doing, then I must change that!"

He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. Proverbs 28:13

One translation says, he who habitually covers his sin

In order to avoid the "hindrances" to supernatural increase, you must (1) use your faith, (2) let go of the past, (3) resist the spirit of the world, and (4) make the necessary changes in your life.
